As the year drew closer to end lets look back at the top 10 movies of the year. The list is prepared based on the collections. The collections mentioned here are taken from various sources.
Robot, though a dubbed film found its way as No.1 this year and I have included this name as I thought the type of collections for a dubbed film is phenomenal.
In case of straight Telugu films, Simha starring Nandamuri Balakrishna is the top film grossing over 40 Crores. NTR had two hits and collected a total of 65 Crores and is the No.1 Hero of the year.
In terms of number of releases to hits and profitability to the buyer and producer, Allari Naresh is the safest hero of 2010.

Deepika and Siddharth off to romantic holiday

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is said to become closer to her friend Siddharth, son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya. Initially she described him as a good friend, but both of them are seen going together steadily.
They were recently spotted at Mumbai International Airport getting into a flight to London. They are reportedly planning to enjoy the New Year in England.
Deepika had a romantic link up with Ranbir Kapoor earlier and there was a break-up. She was not seen with any male escort until Siddharth walked into her life.

Radha Mohan-Sampat Nandi film with Ravi Teja

The producer-director duo of Radha Mohan and Sampat Nandi are planning a film with Ravi Teja. A story narrated by Nandi is said to have appealed to the actor and final touches are being given to the script.
Ravi Teja‘s Mirapakaya is ready for release on January 12 and the actor is reportedly going through scripts for his next venture.
Producer Radha Mohan and director Sampat Nandi have earlier made Emaindi Ee Vela with Varun Sandesh and Nisha Agarwal which did reasonable business at the box office.

Prabhu Deva-Latha file for mutual divorce

Estranged couple Choreographer-actor-director Prabhu Deva and his wife Latha filed a petition seeking mutual divorce before a Family Court in Chennai. Both of them appeared before the Family Court judge I Pandurangan and filed the petition seeking to dissolve the marriage solemnized in September 1995. The petition stated that all efforts taken by mediators and elders in their families failed to find a solution and they agreed for mutual consent of divorce.
Latha was an actress untill their marriage and the couple have three children. Following difference of opinion, they were living separately for more than two years.
Prabhu Deva has been romantically linked to Nayanathara and there were media reports about their secret marraige. This affair was the cause of differences between Prabhu Deva and his wife Latha.

Saif Ali Khan to help couples to surprise their spouses

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, brand ambassador of Asian Paints, will now be seen helping couples surprise their respective spouses.
Asian Paints has announced the launch of Royale Play, which allows its customers to have a quick makeover of the walls. Asian Paints Brand Ambassador Saif Ali Khan will visit homes of three couples, who surprise their respective spouses by January 15.
Amit Syngle, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Asian Paints says that the Royale Play concept is targeted to young couples in their early thirties living either in joint families or in their own homes who would have an evolved sense of aesthetics and are trend setters when it comes to home decor.

Rana, the big Play Boy of Tollywood?

Tollywood is abuzz that Rana, grand son of veteran producer D Rama Naidu, has become a Casanova of sorts having affairs with one too many heroines.
Rana made his debut in Sekhar Kammula’s Leader and he was romantically linked with Richa Gangopadhya the heroine of the film. It is reported that he insisted that Richa play the female lead in his next film to be directed by Selva Raghavan.
The tall actor was also seen cosying up to Ileana who is now paired with him in Puri Jagannath’s film Nenu Naa Rakshasi which is now under production.
There were rumours that he was more than friendly with Bipasha Basu, his co-star in Rohan Sippy’s Hindi film Dum Maro Dum.
Even before Rana entered films, he was said to have a steamy affair with Shriya whom he met on the sets of Venkatesh starrer Tulasi.
Film Nagar sources say that no actor in Tollywood has so far been romantically linked with so many heroines. Well, at last Tollywood has a big Play Boy now!

Bala Krishna’s next with Kodi Ramakrishna

fter the success of Simha, Bala Krishna is concentrating much on his film career. Unlike earlier, this Nandamuri Yuvaratna is signing up more films in a year and simultaneously shooting for two films. Presently, Bala Krishna is busy with Dasari Narayana Rao’s directorial, ‘Parama Veera Chakra’ and Bapu’s mythological film, ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’.

The actor has now given his nod for a new film under the direction of Kodi Ramakrishna, who is at present busy with a children film, ‘Uncle Anjaneyaswamy’. After the completion of the duo’s current films, this new movie will roll onto the floors. Kodi RamaKrishna has succeeded in almost all the genre films. We need to wait to see, what genre he offers to Bala Krisna now!

‘Mr.Perfect’ skips from Pongal race

Prabhas new film, ‘Mr.Perfect’ which is scheduled for Pongal release, now seems to get postponed. The postponement is due to the ongoing strike in Tollywood. The strike resulted in the stall of all new film shootings and the producers who scheduled the release dates are now looking for new dates to release their films.

Sources say, Dil Raju, the producer of Mr.Perfect is in plans to postpone the release to either end of the January or to early February. Kajal Agarwal and Tapsee are playing the female leads in the film and Dasarath is directing the film. With Mr.Perfect backs off from racing, the competition is likely to reduce for Pongal.

Venky’s Aghora look in Nagavalli

 Star hero Victory Vekatesh’s Nagavalli has hit the theaters yesterday and has received mixed responses from all over. Venky has donned three roles and the makers of Nagavalli had revealed only the Psychiatrist and the King’s getup before the film’s release. The Aghora getup of Venky is kept under wraps till the release.

Venky who regularly prefers soft roles in family entertainers has tried out a distinct role through Nagavalli. Though many are appreciating for his attempt in trying out a different role, the scenes in this Aghora’s role are receiving poor talk from the audience. The climax of Nagavalli has become the show spoiler especially 130 year old man (Venky) dancing on the hill looked silly.

However, being a holiday today and the weekend to join, Nagavalli might pull down the crowds to theaters.

Anaganaga O Dheerudu Release on Jan 14

The Prakash Kovelamudi directed film Anaganaga O Dheerudu starring Siddharth and Shruti Haasan is said to have 4000 special visual effects covering around 72 minutes of the film’s running time. According to sources, the SFX is so natural that it is difficult to differentiate them from live action. Some well known international graphics experts are said to have been involved in the post-production of the film.
Anaganaga O Dheerudu is a mythology-based film and is produced by Prakash Kovelamudi in collaboration with Walt Disney.
The film is getting ready for release on January 14, 2011.

Rahman at Golden Globe nominations again

AR Rahman has been nominated for the Golden Globe awards in the Best Original Score category for his music in the Danny Boyle directed film 127 Hours. Rahman’s music in the film had received good reviews for it’s “haunting tracks” and “wonderful crescendos.” The soundtrack includes ‘If I Rise’, a collaboration between Rahman and American popstar Dido.
The nominations to the award include Alexandre Desplat for The King’s Speech, Danny Elfman for Alice in Wonderland, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network and Hans Zimmer for his score in Inception.
Rahman had won his first Golden Globe in 2009 in the same category for Slumdog Millionaire. He also won two Oscars and two Grammys

Jr.NTR’s romance with Malaika

We have earlier informed you that Jr.NTR has signed up his first commercial ad with Emami for endorsing Zandu Balm across A.P. Suriya has been roped in to endorse the brand for the Kollywood region while Malaika Arora who endorses for North Indian market has been penciled in to cast opposite these two heroes.

So, the new ad being directed by Prahlad Kakkar has Jr.NTR and Malaika Arora in the Telugu version and Surya and Malaika in the Tamil one. Eventually this is the first Television ad for NTR. Let’s see if the ad clicks and NTR signs for many more brands.

Deepika Padukone’s item number in Rana’s movie

Yes! You read it right. Deepika Padukone will be seen in Rana’s upcoming film. But, the news is not related to a Telugu film. It is known that Rana has bagged a Bollywood film titled ‘Dum Maro Dum’ under the direction of Rohan Sippy. Abhishek Bachchan is playing the main lead role in the film while Rana will be seen as other hero.

The latest news is Bollywood’s beauty Deepika Padukone has been roped in for the item number in this film. “Deepika has agreed to be a part of the song. The song will be shot next week and would be contemporary and extremely urban,” says a unit member.

Well, let’s wait to see if Rana shakes his legs with the gorgeous Deepika.

Jagapati Kshetram shooting in progress

The shooting of Kshetram with Priyamani playing the central role is now in progress at locations in and around Hyderabad. The film has Jagapatibabu and Kick Shyam playing important roles.
The film is being produced by G Govinda Raju under the banner of Sri Balaji Movies and directed by T Venugopal. Music for the film is composed by Koti.
The star cast of the film includes Aditya Menon, Brahmanandam, Suresh, Rajiv Kanakala, Posani Krishna Murali, Uttej, Chalapathi Rao and others.

Manmadha Banam Audio Released

The Audio of the music of the film Manmadha Banam composed by Devi Sri Prasad was launched on December 13 at a function organised at Hotel Taj Banjara, Hyderabad. The event was attended by Tollywood celebrities and the entire cast and crew of the film.
Manmadha Banam is the Telugu version of the Tamil film Manmadhan Ambu starring Kamal Hasan, R Madhavan and Trisha in the lead roles. The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by K.S.Ravi Kumar. The Telugu version is being released by Lakshmi Ganapathi Films.
Manmadha Baanam will be released world-wide on December 23.

Tollywood releases in trouble

We have earlier informed to our readers that the shootings and the post-production works of Telugu films were stalled regarding the issues between the local fighters and the Chennai fighters. The Telugu Film Producers Council has come to a conclusion to stop all the shootings and post-production works in Hyderabad till the issues gets resolved.

The strike seems to affect the films that were slated for a release in the months of December and January. Venkatesh’s ‘Nagavalli’ will be releasing on the scheduled date as it is done with all the post-production works prior release. However, the upcoming films Nagarjuna’s ‘Ragada’ and Ravi Teja’s ‘Mirapakaya’ are likely to be postponed at least by a week time of its scheduled date.

Other films too such as Sumanth’s ‘Raaj’ and ‘Golconda High School’, Ram’s ‘Kandireega’, Bala Krishna’s ‘Parama veera Chakra’ and other films which were under filming and post-production works have been stalled.

Rajamouli clarifies about ‘Brahmarshi Viswamithra’

Reacting to the news that is making rounds in the web and electronic media regarding his upcoming film, director Rajamouli gave the clarification. Recently there is a gossip that this successful director is in plans to make a film with Prabhas and Samantha in the lead roles with the title ‘Brahmarshi Viswamithra’.

Rajamouli has posted a tweet in the social networking site, Twitter that he is not directing any film titled ‘Brahmarshi Viswamithra’.

Rajamouli tweets “There is much news about my film with Prabhas for which, I myself don’t know about how the story is going to be. I am certainly not doing Viswamithra. I don’t know the budget, I don’t know the story and we haven’t signed Samantha for the film.”

Ram Charan returns his ‘Orange’ remuneration

Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s latest release ‘Orange’ has hit the silver screens with huge expectations. Though the film has received mixed response initially, it has later turned out as a disaster at the Box-Office. The major reason behind the film’s disaster is due to its poor content though the film is visually rich in its technical and other aspects.

Naga Babu, producer of ‘Orange’ has incurred a heavy loss of more than 10 crores and Naga Babu has outburst upon the new directors at the ‘Mirapakay’ audio release. If sources are to be believed, Ram Charan is said to have returned back his remuneration 4 crores to Naga Babu in order to reduce little burden to his uncle.

Bala Krishna’s ‘Komaram Bheem’ look!

Nandamuri Bala Krishna’s latest film ‘Param Veera Chakra’ audio is slated for release on December 28^th and the movie hits the big-screens on Jan 12th. Directed by Dasari Narayana Rao and produced by C. Kalyan, Bala Krishana is playing dual roles in the film. He will be seen as an army major and the other role as an actor. Param Veera Chakra casts Amish Patel, Neha Dupia and Sheela as female leads. Mani Sharma has scored the music for the film.

Nagarjuna Next Movie Rajanna shooting start

Yuvasamrat Akkineni Nagarjuna’s period film Rajanna written and directed by Vijayendra Prasad is now in regular shooting schedules. A special set resembling a typical Telangana village of the 1940s has been erected by art director Ravi.
Special attention is also being given to the design of the costumes of that period. The story has the backdrop of the Telangana Razakar Movement in the pre-Independence days.
Nagarjuna and Sneha are playing the lead roles in this film which is being produced by Nagarjuna himself under his home banner Annapoorna Studios.

Ram Kandireega movie shooting

The shooting of Kandireega is in progress at locations in and around Hyderabad. This film starring Ram and Hansika in the lead roles is being produced by Bellamkonda Suresh on the banner of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions and directed by Santosh Sivan.
The director is planning to complete the shooting
of the film in a single non-stop schedule. A couple
of days ago, Ram had to shoot continuously
for twentyhours without a break.
Sonu Sood plays the villain in the film
while Swathi has an important role. This film is
described as a new wave romantic action drama.

RAGADA Ready To Relese on 23rd Dec

Nagarjuna starrer Ragada is being scheduled for release on December 23. The film is produced by D Siva Prasad Reddy under the banner of Kamakshi Enterprises and directed by Veeru Potla.
Anushka and Priyamani play the female lead roles. The star cast of the film includes Brahmanandam, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Tanikella Bharani, Pradeep Rawat, Dev Gill, Satyaprakash and others.
The music is composed by Thaman and the audio of the music released recently has become popular in the market.

Jr.NTR new movie SHAKTI News

NTR Jr’s film Shakti has completed its shooting at locations across Ladakh, Jaipur, Haridwar, Kulu Manali, Hampi, Badami and Egypt. The final schedule of shooting will start at Annapoorna Studios.
The film is being produced by C. Ashwini Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies and directed by Meher Ramesh. The music has been composed by Mani Sarma.
Ileana is the heroine while Manjari Fadnis plays an important role. The star cast includes Krishna, Vijaya Nirmala, Prabhu Ganesan, Jackie Shroff, Sonu Sood and Pooja Bedi.

The Telugu version of Kamal Haasan’s latest Tamil film Manmadhan Ambu is given the title Manmadha Banam and is scheduled to release on December 17. Lakshmi Ganapathi Films has bagged the Telugu rights of the film.
The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by K.S. Ravi Kumar. The music has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film stars Madhavan, Trisha and Sangeetha in major roles.
In this romantic comedy, Kamal Haasan plays a private detective hired by Madhavan to spy on his love Trisha to confirm her fidelity. The film is said to be having plenty of hilarious scenes.

SS Rajamouli Eega film sarted

 Star Director SS Rajamouli’s experimental moive Eega starring Nani, Samantha and Kannada actor Sudeep will start shooting from December 6.
Even if Eega movie is a small budget flick, the expectations will be sky high as Rajamouli’s all movies so far are successful at the box-office.
His last film Maryada Ramanna made with modest budget became a big hit. In the movie Eega plays leading role.

Gaganam release postponed

Gaganam release postponed

The bi-lingual Telugu-Tamil film Gaganam starring Nagarjuna and Prakash Raj and produced by Dil Raju was originally scheduled to release in the first week. However, latest buzz is that the release of the film has been postponed to January 2011.
The reason seems to be that Gaganam is an out of the box film and may not get theatres as big budget films like Orange, Nagavalli, Ragada and Mirapakaya are getting released in December.
Gaganam deals with the hijack of an aeroplane and directed by Radha Mohan of Akashamantha fame. The music for the film has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
The Tamil version Payanam has been produced by Prakash Raj.
